Do you really use the 120 GB in a playstation 3?
I prepare my boyfriend a gift for PlayStation 3. I found one that says it has 40 GB of memory and is cheaper that includes 120 questions GB.Mi ie, those of you who have a 120 GB PS3, which really needs all the memory? Do you think it will be OK if I buy the 40 GB PS3?
First off, you rock as a girlfriend for buying your boy a PS3, he’ll LOVE IT. Now, it really depends on what he will be doing with his PS3. If it will just be for games, the 40GB is just fine. If, on the other hand, he wants to use it as a media center, storing music/movies/full game downloads/pictures, he will fill up the 40GB pretty quick. Do a little bit of recon work with him and find out what he would use it for, then you have your answer…as an added bonus, if he does just want to use it for games, you can buy him one or two with the money you save!!
EDIT: I am at the 90GB used mark so far, so he could definitly fill his up if he was so inclined.
If he plays mainly games, then get the 40GB. If he listens to music, watches videos, and downloads save games, then get the 120GB. I have the original Limited Edition 80GB, and so far in the last 2.5 years I’ve used 60GB.
i have the ps3 slim 120gb and when i got it i just wanted it for games but there is so much you can do with it that you will end up useing alot of the memory so i would go with da 120gb
Personnally he will love the gift no matter if it’s the 40GB or 120GB. If my girl did that i would be really happy either way and I would want her to buy the 40GB as it usually cost less. Thats just me though.
I think 40GB is fine though. Besides he can always upgrade the ps3 hard drive in the future. Right now I see 40GB lasting him a really long time unless he wants to put it loads of movies and music. Even if he has like 10GB of music on it and 5 GB of videos he’s good.
I have the 40GB PS3. The only way that he’ll need the extra 80GB is if he wants to store movies on it. But why would you? whats wrong with DVD’s people? I have 12GB still free on my PS3 and i have had it for over a year so i doubt i’m going to use much more of it. I reccomend just get the 40GB.

really the best thing to do is buy the 120 gb slim ps3 due to the fact its only 300 bucks if you were buying a 40gb ps3 for 100 dollars then that would be a good deal and then he could always upgrade the HDD disk himself if he ran out of memory its super simple if your saving movies, music games and buying games off the ps3 store then yes the space will fillup quickly
you can buy the 40GB one and if he runs out of memory on the system then you or him could buy a 2.5″ laptop hard drive and replace the old one you would only need to use a back up hard drive to put all memory of old on to it and transfer to new one.
if u bought the new 120GB one would be good to alot of storage space and it uses up less electricity and attracts alot less dust and doesn’t scratch as bad
