what is the advantage of a playstation 3 160 GB over an 80 GB other than hard drive size?

I am investigating the purchase of a PlayStation 3 this weekend and wondered what the great advantage of the 160 GB is more than the other 80 GB of hard drive space. How hard is it really used if play games and watch blu-ray?

Just buy 80 gig, you can add more in the future, their relatively cheap like
    320 gigs for ~$80

80GB should be more than enough if you just watch movies and play games.

You shouldn’t need any more than that unless you install a LOT of games and get a lot of downloadable content.

The difference between the 80GB version of the PS3 and the 160GB is the price. Other than that, they have all the same features but the 80GB version is about $399 and the 160Gb is about $499 I believe.

Here is what they both have:
    – Has 2 USB ports (Used for importing music, videos, and themes for the background of the home screen)
    – Built-in Wi-Fi connection

The HDD is used alot if you think about it. Every time you will get a new game, the game will require a 1-5 minute HDD installation to cut down the loading in the game. Every game will go through this process and you won’t be able to play the until the installation is complete.

The HDD is also used for your saved data. You will play through a game and you will want to save you progress so the game will save to your HDD of course.

Blu-Ray movies don’t use the HDD at all. So don’t worry about that.

If you are going to add you music, videos, and photos on your PS3, it will obiously save in your HDD.

So as you can see, the HDD is used alot but if I were you, I would go with the 80GB version. 80GB is plenty unless your going to get a million games and add a million songs/photos/videos.
